The Compassionate Friends website describes the Annual Candle Lighting by stating, "The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting unites family and friends around the globe in lighting candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause. As candles are lit at 7 p.m. local time, creating a virtual wave of light, hundreds of thousands of persons commemorate and honor children in a way that transcends all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries. Believed to be the largest mass candle lighting on the globe, the Worldwide Candle Lighting, a gift to the bereavement community from The Compassionate Friends, creates a virtual 24-hour wave of light as it moves from time zone to time zone."
The Weswig family incorporated this element in the Big Horn Brass Concert after Erik Weswig passed away in 1995. Lighting a candle in collaboration with the Compassionate Friends Candle Lighting event provides a wonderful time to remember family members, friends, and fond holiday memories.
The Free Big Horn Brass Concert has been a long standing tradition for the Weswig Family and many members of the community.
We hope this becomes a tradition for your family as well. The concert is a celebration of Christmas joy through upbeat holiday music.
The Weswig family continues to sponsor this concert in memory of their son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend Erik Weswig.
